Dr. Daniel Malach is a board-certified comprehensive ophthalmologist and cataract surgeon dedicated to providing personalized, state-of-the-art eye care. As a founding member of Guest Malach Eye Specialists, he combines advanced surgical expertise with a compassionate, patient-centered approach to help patients achieve their best possible vision. Dr. Malach is proud that many physicians, healthcare professionals, and their family members have entrusted him with their own eye care.

Born and raised in Southeast Michigan, Dr. Malach graduated with honors from the University of Michigan, where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree, before receiving his medical degree, also with honors, from the Wayne State University School of Medicine. During medical school, he distinguished himself through his commitment to education, research, and patient care. He received numerous honors, including the Prentis Endowed Scholarship, the Robert Fraser Endowed Scholarship in Ophthalmology, and the Outstanding Ophthalmology Research Award. His dedication to compassionate, patient-centered care earned him induction into the Gold Humanism Honor Society, recognizing medical students who exemplify compassion, collaboration, and clinical excellence.

Following medical school, Dr. Malach completed a transitional year residency at Beaumont Hospital Dearborn, where he was elected Chief Resident by both his colleagues and program leadership. He then completed his ophthalmology residency at Kresge Eye Institute in Detroit, one of the nation's premier ophthalmology training programs. During residency, he received the Golden Apple Award for Outstanding Resident Teacher and was later elected Chief Resident. He has presented research on cataract surgery outcomes and glaucoma at the annual meetings of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology (ARVO).

Dr. Malach specializes in advanced refractive cataract surgery, utilizing the latest diagnostic technology, laser-assisted techniques, and premium intraocular lenses to help many patients reduce—or even eliminate—their dependence on glasses after surgery. He was among the first surgeons in Michigan to implant the RxSight Light Adjustable Lens, the first and only intraocular lens that can be customized after cataract surgery. Since 2022, he has been recognized annually as one of the Best Cataract Surgeons in America.

In addition to cataract surgery, Dr. Malach provides comprehensive medical and surgical eye care, including the diagnosis and treatment of glaucoma, diabetic eye disease, macular degeneration, dry eye disease, and other complex eye conditions. He has a particular interest in minimally invasive glaucoma surgery (MIGS), helping many patients reduce their dependence on glaucoma medications while preserving their vision.

Outside the office, Dr. Malach enjoys spending time with his wife and their rescue dog, Bo. He also enjoys traveling, playing tennis and golf, attending live music events, and exploring new restaurants both throughout Michigan and while traveling abroad.
